Foam Snowmen

Back in September, I took Cameron to sign up for Girl Scouts and they were, of course, short for leaders. Brody was only about a week or two old and I was tired and stressed out. And I know I said NO when they asked me to be a Daisy Troop leader. I know I did. But somehow, here I am Daisy Troop Leader Extraordinaire.

And so, with no past involvement in Girl Scouts, I paid my $12 to become and "Adult Girl Scout", which is the first step, and then paid my $20 for a background check, which you wouldn't think would be an issue, but the reason for the shortage of leaders is not for lack of interest, it's just that seven of the potential leaders could not pass their background checks. Yup. I'm serious. Seven. Gotta love our small town.

And because I'm a control freak, I decided that I would rather just be the leader after all, regardless of the fact that my house is too small and Brody is clinging to me the entire time. And sometimes it's a huge chaotic mess, but the girls are sweeties and the crafting is always a good time.

So here we are in January making Foam Snowmen. I got the inspiration from the February Scrapbooks Etc. Magazine. But they used bigger balls. (that's what she said) and ours were from little kits that I found at the dollar store. So even though they were smaller than what I had wanted to use, they were cheap and so we went with it.

And now that Cameron and her friends are five, I am seeing that they are having their own views of what is cute and what is not, so while these all turned out cute, not one of them turned out like mine. So cute!

And so if you wanted to make these, I guess the photos are pretty self explanatory, but we did find that with kids, using the glue dots to attach buttons and flowers and hair seemed to work quite a bit better than using glue. And like I said, if you wanted to find the bigger sized snowmen, they are on scrapbooksetc.com. A great cold and nasty day activity.

  3. I love how each one is different giving a peek into the personality of each girl.

You hear so much about learning to say no, but I'm with you--I've said no and somehow I end up doing it anyway. From reading your blog I know you'll be a good one.
